IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Photofacial is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that uses pulses of broad-band light to target and reduce skin imperfections such as sun damage, age spots, rosacea, and uneven pigmentation through selective photothermolysis. The treatment involves directing intense pulses of light onto the skin, which penetrates the skin's surface and is absorbed by the melanin or pigmented areas of the skin, causing the targeted cells to break down and be naturally removed by the body's immune system. IPL Photofacial can improve the overall tone and texture of the skin, giving it a more youthful and even appearance.

IPL Photofacials are also AMAZING for treating acne. They help regulate sebum production in the skin, kill acne-causing bacteria and seriously reduce inflammation in the skin. Many of our clients with inflamed acne have expressed that this is the only thing that has ever improved acne overnight.

It feels like a quick, warm snap on the skin, like an elastic band. Although some people find in uncomfortable, our device has a very strong cooling tip and most people find IPL photofacials tolerable (and it's over quickly!)
You may experience some redness and heat post-IPL but this normally subsides after an hour or so. You can wear makeup and apply gentle skincare the same day after your treatment.
Some mild redness, warmth, swelling and a sunburned sensation are normal responses following IPL Photofacials. Brown patches or spots will look darker and more pronounced immediately following IPL treatments in 2-3 days, these brown areas become even darker and frequently feel scaly like coffee grounds on your skin. Within 1-2 weeks, these dark, scaly areas fall off and leave new, healthy skin behind. No matter how tempting, do not pick or scrub these brown spots - let them come off on their own.
You will notice an immediate change in your skin with just one session. However, it generally takes 3-6 treatments, spaced 4 weeks apart for best results.
Before getting an IPL Photofacial treatment, it's imperative to avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanning products for at least two weeks before the treatment. You should also avoid waxing or plucking hair in the treatment area for at least a week prior, and avoid using retinoids and exfoliants (including exfoliating acids) in the treatment area for a few days before the procedure.
Be gentle with your skin, avoid the use of retinoids (like tretinoin and retinol) and exfoliants for 1 week post-treatment. All sun exposure is to be avoided for 4 weeks after treatment. Be very diligent with applying SPF everyday. Although your skin will look and feel completely normal 7-10 days post-IPL, it takes up to 30 days for it to be fully healed.
